Job Location: ProKarma Offshore Centre, Hyderabad.

POSITIONS : SENIOR LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS
Responsibilities:
 Provide backend support for production and dev/QA environments
 Create and maintain system documentation
 Ensure proper and timely incident handling, troubleshooting and escalation.
 Participate in Change Management process and weekly maintenance window
 Interface with other technical and non-technical departments
 Assist with capacity and performance planning
 Periodic on-call rotation
 Special projects as assigned
Experience:
 Intermediate-to-advanced Linux system administration skills required
 4+ years related experience resolving customer incidents and requests in a data center/NOC environment – This is dubious someone could change tapes for 3 years and say they’ve got this experience level. We are searching for skill not time served. Consider rewording this somehow to express day to day activities, reading logs, sorting thru logs, researching error messages you may not understand from java applications, process control is a lot of what we do, ability to correlate related events in a multi-stage system.

 Big THEME HERE – Ability to learn about conditions and errors by researching evidence given and to learn how to solve a problem when using off the shelf products such as postfix, Ecelerity, linux. Ability to read and understand a shell script you didn’t write.

 Excellent working knowledge of Linux management commands for systems administration (init service management, cron, process control, dealing with log files, etc), experience working with applications contained in Jboss Containers, Experience with Apache web server and some specality modules (such as modjk, modproxy), Experience administering applications conainted within Apache Tomcat, Experience with administering applications run in java and Microsoft Office suite, Web Browser tools, Issue and Ticket tracking tools, Ability to use a Wiki
 Good working knowledge of IP, TCP, NFS, Linux File Systems, DNS, cron, syslog, XML, Postfix, Sendmail, SMTP, POP3, DKIM, SPF, Zone file management, DNS troubleshooting, working knowledge of Source Control tools: SVN, CVS, RCS, ability to learn/understand Postfix configuration options, ability to learn configuration options you don’t understand on your own.
 Working knowledge of Message Systems (Ecelerity) highly desirable
 Working knowledge of Oracle databases and other relational database systems nice to have
 Basic programming skills with languages such as Java, Perl, bash shell scripts and basic SQL desired – Python, PHP nice to have
 Basic understanding of what a firewall is and its capabilities and how to troubleshoot when a firewall is involved. Checkpoint firewall knowledge isn’t desired.
